Silver Crescent Foundation: Exclusive Sponsor of Technology Champions Scholarships

Exemplary career and technical high school seniors will be recognized and receive scholarships from Silver Crescent Foundation. Beginning in June 2007, Silver Crescent Foundation will become the exclusive sponsor of the Technology Champions Scholarship Awards presented by the South Carolina Education and Business Alliance.

Scholarship recipients are selected from Tech Prep, School-to-Work, and other career and technology education programs across the state. “The South Carolina Education and Business Alliance represents 16 regional education and business partnerships in the state,” said Minnie Blackwell, South Carolina Business and Education Alliance Chair. “Each of the 16 Business and Education Alliances goes through an extensive selection process and each one identifies the most exemplary career and technology students in their region.”

Dave Walker, President of Lowcountry Education and Business Consortium, Inc., said Silver Crescent Foundation’s sponsorship of the scholarships rewards outstanding high school seniors. “Silver Crescent Foundation’s support is absolutely fantastic.” Walker said. “It’s a tremendous partnership. It is an opportunity to recognize some really wonderful students, but also unique in that the parents of those students are also recognized.” Walker said the newly cemented partnership is one that provides great benefit to deserving young people.

The Silver Crescent Foundation, located at Daniel Island, Charleston, S.C., was chartered in 1996 and is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Through initiatives focused on career exploration and workforce readiness, Silver Crescent Foundation works with students to build a framework of skills and knowledge that will assist them in facing the challenges of a global economy. The foundation also works to raise the general awareness of the importance of engineering, technology and manufacturing and its correlation to the creation of wealth, living standards and job creation, and to encourage students to pursue careers in engineering and technology.
